“No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars or sailed to an uncharted land or opened a new heaven to the human spirit.”
A sense of optimism and determination is an integral part of the spirit at Constellation. Each member of our team is committed to addressing the unmet medical needs of patients and to instilling integrity in everything we do. We are passionate about our work, strive for scientific breakthroughs, and view each day as an opportunity to educate and learn from each other. We work hard and play hard. Whether it’s a charity bike race, family fun or getting together after work, we enjoy our colleagues’ company outside of the labs and meeting rooms. We believe that the key to a successful company is maintaining a group of passionate, challenged, appreciated, and rewarded employees.
Each year, Constellation’s employees select two of their colleagues who most exemplify the company’s core FIRST values. The following are our past selections:
When I joined Constellation, the company was still in the process of being built and the excitement and energy was palpable in our space on Sidney Street. This was my first experience in industry and I was very excited to be part of the extraordinary experience of the early days of a start-up company. The infectious enthusiasm for what we are trying to accomplish has not wavered over the years as we have moved programs forward from ideas into the clinic to treat patients. I am honored to work with such dedicated, caring and fun people. While our company looks very different from 2008, the dedication and passion for what we are doing is unchanged and is the reason why I still love working here with this great group of people.
I feel lucky to be working at Constellation because, at the very core of the company, people really care about each other and are passionate about science. To me, this collaborative spirit as well as the company’s focus on cutting-edge biology is what explain our successes. It is also very motivating to be working for a company where management genuinely believes in “helping patients.” Here, I am given the scientific and leadership opportunities to prove myself and to build the career I really want and I ultimately know that my contributions will make a difference. I expect great things to come from Constellation and I will be proud to say I was part of this fantastic team.
I joined Constellation back in its early days because I was excited to work on drug discovery in the emerging field of epigenetics and because I was impressed with the caliber and integrity of the people on the team. Over the years, I have enjoyed the balance of mentorship and freedom that scientists are given, which, combined with an overall commitment to seeing projects succeed, has created a very productive atmosphere. As the other FIRST award winners have noted, it is the people, combined with an important goal, that make Constellation a great place to work.
It has been three years for me here at Constellation…and I am still in the “honeymoon” phase. I am motivated coming into work each day knowing that incredible science is being done here by a crew of fun, driven individuals. I joined Biopharma for two main reasons, to be part of an inter-disciplinary team and translate my scientific passion into oncology drug discovery. Constellation embodies these ideals superbly! Exciting, rigorous and thoughtful science in relatively uncharted territory that is currently being translated into the clinic. Focused, intelligent minds, hardworking and creative people who are single-minded in their goal to improve the lives of cancer patients. No challenge seems insurmountable here. This is the real deal and I am truly fortunate to be a part of it!
When I interviewed wtih Constellation Pharmaceuticals in November 2011, I brought with me a few years experience of working on the structure function of some chromatin regulatory proteins and a strong desire to contribute to drug discovery efforts in these areas. Constellation had a strong lineup of epigenetic drug discovery projects and all of the team members that I interacted with showed great pride, enthusiasm and knowledge in their endeavors. The company also impressed me with its contagious collegial culture. Needless to say, I was sold on the spot! Now into my third year being a team member here, I can easily explain how Constellation is such a great company: there is a strong commitment to address the unmet medical needs of patients and cutting-edge science is always regarded as the driving force; there are bright minds who are hard working, critical and always striving for perfection; people at Constellation highly value efficiency and fast turn-around on a daily basis; one’s contributions to the company mission, be it large or small, are well recognized and honored; and last, but not least, the company provides opportunities for colleagues to connect with each other at various company and community service events, which make our jobs much more enjoyable. I truly enjoy my work here and look forward to contributing more to the advancement of our drug discovery pipelines.
I joined Constellation because of the people I met during my initial interview. They were incredibly friendly, filled with excitement, and they made me feel like I would easily fit in here with them. Two years have passed since I started working here and I could not be happier! Constellation is a young, energetic, and fast-paced company. I can say for sure that you will never be bored working here! We are challenged and inspired to find new ways to do our job every single day. The people here are commited, passionate, and caring. The folks surrounding me here at Constellation want to make a difference, and they truly want to give a better alternative to all those with cancer. I am so very proud to be part of this group.
Two years have passed since I joined Constellation Pharmaceuticals, a growing, fast paced and energetic pharmaceutical company at the frontier of chromatin science. What attracted me to Constellation were unequivocally the people and the science! I was looking for an opportunity to work at the cutting-edge of science with a talented pool of individuals. After meeting everyone, it immediately became apparent that everyone was enthusiastic in their quest to discover novel therapeutics and make a difference in the lives of patients. It was clear that everyone at Constellation shared a deep passion for science and commitment to address unmet medical needs through excellence in science. And this sentiment is echoed everyday by every employee here at Constellation! I am proud to be a part of a company where its employees share this common goal.
In the Spring of 2008, I joined Patrick Trojer and Fei Lan as the first employees of Constellation. After contemplating a career in academia, I committed to Constellation for a few key reasons. Firstly, my scientific passion is chromatin and transcription. The thought of translating that passion into therapies for patients was, and remains, a prime motivating force. Most importantly, the people associated with Constellation are special. From the earliest of days, I was inspired by our founders, scientific advisors and fellow scientists that we could make a difference in an un-proven field. Our venture partners represent some of the most accomplished scientists and biotech leaders in the business, and above all, remain committed to improving the lives of patients. The dedication to the science, and ultimately the patients, has real meaning at Constellation. We are a close group, and we are not afraid to challenge each other to push the boundaries of what can be accomplished. These are some of the ingredients that make Constellation a special place to work, grow, and advance the science together.
I was approached in the summer of 2008 to join Constellation. Constellation was a small, albeit determined, start-up with extremely ambitious goals. Even upon walking through the front door on Sidney Street – there was a feeling I got from the people who were interviewing me. The feeling that they really felt and believed that nothing is impossible. Some of my most distinct memories are of my first few days here when I would walk into a dark and BARELY configured lab. I switched on the lights and it has been electric ever since. The energy, focus and passion are palpable. There is something very infectious here, a drive for excellence and a level of collaboration from lab to lab and office to office that I have never witnessed. It is an honor to work alongside such great minds and dedicated staff.
Three year have passed since I joined Constellation. The group has grown and matured. The passion for science, uncharted drug discovery and for bringing new drugs to serve unmet medical needs is as vibrant as in day one. The project of identifying and developing molecules modulating epigenetic regulations attracted me in the first place. As a scientist, there is something very special, a drive that comes with working on the edge of a new frontier. To succeed in this endeavor, it is absolutely critical to work with a very talented and dedicated group of people who enjoy working together. The values that define Constellation have been key to built such a group. Our passion for science and determination to deliver innovative therapies makes a difference, great biopharmaceutical discoveries are happening right now at Constellation, and I am proud to be part of this project.
My previous employer was on its last leg in the early winter of 2009 when I met up with my long time friend Craig for lunch at his “new office”. This office proved to be directly across the street from where I had been working and during that one fortuitous lunch with Craig, I was hired as a consultant for Constellation and made the short move with my belongings from one side of the street to the other. I worked as a consultant for 9 months, “interviewing” with the team along the way, learning about the culture and science behind Constellation and eventually becoming an official part of the Constellation family in October.
From that initial lunch with Craig, I could see that Constellation was a special place to work. The science was amazing but the people were even more so. The commitment and dedication of each and every person here is palpable. I am proud to be a member of this family.
The moment I walked into Constellation, I noticed that there was something different about the pulse of the company. I felt like the team here was out to change the world and there was no challenge too large to overcome. I was looking for the opportunity to work with world-class scientific and business talent to help build a company that will help shape the biotechnology industry for years to come – and Constellation embodied these elements!
I joined Constellation because of the people I met when I first interviewed here. They were passionate and excited about the science and it made a great first impression. This atmosphere, coupled with the hands-on knowledge, of epigenetics/drug discovery and the potential to explore a novel class of therapeutics, was very exciting and attractive. Additionally, the potential to develop new treatments for cancer was close to my heart – my mother is a survivor of breast cancer.
I joined Constellation because the enthusiasm was contagious from the moment I walked in the door. The energy for and the commitment to the research being done here is unlike any other place I have worked. The desire to better the lives of those afflicted with cancer resonates with everyone here on both a personal and professional level. However, it is much more than just the energy, commitment and desire. The people, more than anything else, at Constellation make coming to work every day so incredibly fun and so hugely rewarding.
